Tools needed:
- 5mm hex key
- 3mm hex key (unless your 5mm is very long)
First turn off and unplug the centrifuge.
The lid latch release can be accessed through a hole on the front panel of the centrifuge. (See photo).
The lid is released by engaging the mechanism with a 5mm hex key and rotating counter clockwise. Unfortunately, a standard L-shaped hex key is not long enough to reach the mechanism through the front cover. If yours doesn’t reach (and it probably doesn’t), you’ll have to remove the front cover.
The front cover of the centrifuge can be removed while the lid is closed.
Remove the 4 screws along the bottom of the front cover with a 3 mm hex key.
Lift the front cover slightly and pull it away from the rest of the unit. The cover will be tethered to the unit by some cables, so be careful not to damage them. You can disconnect the cables or just prop the cover such that the cables won’t be damaged.
You should be able to reach the latch release mechanism through the hole in the inner panel.
